I’m sure that you were as surprised and shocked as I when Carol decided yesterday to end her candidacy for Lt. Governor.

I was with Carol all weekend. Carol was a real pro -- making her presentation to the Northeast Caucus while waiting for the news about her newest granddaughter. We all rejoiced for Carol and Steve in Clark Summit when word came through that they were grandparents once again. Throughout these last six months, Carol and Steve have shared time with Stephanie and I in many locations throughout the length and breath of the Commonwealth.

They are always gracious and kind on the campaign trail. She and Steve are both class acts and treat everyone with respect, even their competitors. I always enjoyed our time together.

I know how intensely Chester County Committee members supported Carol.

We are all thankful to Carol for her great commitment to the Republican Party, Chester County and to civil dialogue in this contest for Lt. Governor.
